While you are anticipating the release of your JUPEB examination results. We have summarized list of things you should do while waiting for your JUPEB results and also after collecting your JUPEB result.
Obtain the 2018 JAMB brochure from JAMB office nearest to you or download the pdf online ( download JAMB brochure here ) this will enable you to see the various courses offered by Nigerian universities and at the same time gather their basic admission requirements for direct entry students. Once you have this, you will be able to measure your admission success rate and also know which course to apply for following the completion of your JUPEB programme.
Please note that the JAMB brochure is free. You can also get a copy if you have friends or neighbour that recently sat for JAMB UTME.
On the brochure, their are columns for UTME admission requirements and DE (Direct-entry) you are to focus on the direct0entry section. In case where JUPEB is not stated, use the entry requirements for IJMB or other A’level.
Once you have obtained the JAMB brochure either online or the hard-copy, check out various courses in lie with your JUPEB subjects combination. Try to outline about 3 courses relating to your most preferred course of choice. You can have a master degree on the other ones in the future or apply for change of course after being admitted.
Do not just have a fixed or “do or die” mind on just one course. The world is a dynamic one. Try modify your choices. For somebody who wants to study Medicine and Surgery you can have alternatives like: Bio-chemistry, Physiology, Nursing, Dentistry. Also, a candidate who want to study law can decide to go for international relations, Religion studies, Criminology etc. You can later do master in International Law and so on (It is sad that Nigerian schools don’t have offices to orientate candidates on this carrier selection) The important thing is to know what type of medicine you want to base on and also, why you want to study it. This will enable you to have a broader choice.
If you need assistance on this, send me a detailed personal mail for free consultation via ( email@example.com )
While waiting for your JUPEB result or even after ou have your result. Endeavor to check out the JUPEB cut-off marks or admission points for the course you intend to study. This will enable you to have clear insight to what admission opportunities before you. You should know that the required admission cut off points for JUPEB candidate is not the same in all institution thus you need to know the exact cut-off marks required by the university of your choice.
This is not a common practice in Nigeria due to the facts that many do not know they can actually pay a visit to any university in the country and make inquiries. Well, there are people being paid to answer your questions in all university (federal, state or private) They are the undergraduate admission department (in this case). Try pay a visit to this unit, go with a mature person if you feel too small or under-age to face university delegates and have your questions written down. Be at peace to ask questions about your desire courses, scholarship opportunities, admission quota and others.
Tip: Don’t visit during post utme or busy admission period as they might be overwhelmed to give you attention.
Once you enter the university complex, contact the security unit and request to be directed to the “undergraduate admission unit” for a personal purpose ( don’t let them or anyone intimidate you and you should also be polite all through!).
Also, inquire about post utme screening for DE candidates. This will enable you to know whether your chosen university will ask you to come for written or Computer bases test before admission can be granted. For schools that require you write post utme test, do try to purchase their post utme past question and study along. Some university will only require you to purchase the form and no exams conducted. So, check them out!
You should also check your JAMB DE registration status. If you are yet to obtain the DE form, see how to obatin JAMB DE for here . If you have already done that, check the JAMB DE portal to check your registration status and also be sure to take your documents for submission at the JAMB office upon collection.
It is a big world, while waiting for admission, make friends and socialize. Try get in contact with people studying your desired course and people who have chosen carrier along that path. This will open you to opportunities in your chosen carrier line and also get to learn from their experiences. They might even hand you resources to aid your studies. So just get connected!
Well, I added this because I value work. You don’t jut cross your fingers waiting for admission. Get your smart brain to work. Get a job part-time or any time. Get busy with something tangible. You can sign up as intern in organization ( better if they are into your carrier line) learn new skills, improve your current skills and see how you can survive in this world without having a degree! After-all, multi billionaires of this world have no degree…
