Here are the Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board frequently asked questions, in which we are trying to give the best solutions/answers to questions  about JUPEB programme.

Q1. What is JUPEB?

A. JUPEB means Joint Universities Preliminary Examination Board . It is a programme spearheaded by University of Lagos (Unilag) to give O’level graduates and those who have found JAMB difficult in using it as a means of gaining admission. So is serves as one of the best alternatives to JAMB. JUPEB takes you into 200 level of any university of your choice. For more information read What is JUPEB

Q2. Is It Only Unilag That Offers The JUPEB Programme?

A. No, is not only Unilag that offers the programme, as a matter of fact about 70% of Southern Nigerian universities accept the result of JUPEB to gain admission into 200 level. JUPEB have affiliated universities, and these affiliates universities not accept the result, but they have the approval to have their own centre of JUPEB to run the programme.

Q3. Is It Only At The Centre Where  I Did my JUPEB programme I Can Use The Result?

A. No, you can use the result anywhere you want, even though you have done the programme somewhere else. You must have done the programme in Ilorin, and decide to use it to gain admission into University of Lagos, you have done the programme in Lagos centre and decide to use it to gain admission at Delta State University (Delsu).

Q4. Does JUPEB Result Expire?

A. JUPEB result does not expire, you can decide not to use it immediately you  are through with the programme, you might use it after ten years of having JUPEB result, three years after having it. The choice is a choice.

Q5.  How Can I use JUPEB To Gain Admission Into University Of My Choice?

A. Once you are through with the programme, you will only need to combine the JUPEB result with Direct Entry form, and follow the instructions on JAMB website about the Direct Entry form. You need to be updated when Direct Entry form will be out so that you buy your direct entry form early to avoid late registration to your best university.

Q6. What Is The Duration Of JUPEB?

A . JUPEB spans 10 months of two semesters, which is 5 months for each semester. At the end of each semester, JUPEB students would write Continuous assessment test and a final examination. It is these examinations that would be computed as their final examinations.
While the test is 30 marks and the examinations are 70 marks. So candidates are advised to take their continuous assessment serious not only during the examination.

A. Yes, JUPEB is no news again to various Nigerian universities, as it serve as a means of securing university admission into 200level, The programme is certified by NUC(Nigeria University Commission) CHECK PAGE 4 OF JAMB BROCHURE, ITEM 2.2(2) TO CONFIRM IJMB AS A REQUIREMENT FOR UNIVERSITY EDUCATION ALSO CONFIRM IN PAGE 2(ENTRY BY DIRECT APPLICATION(DE) SECTION 1.0.05).

Q. What is the duration of the Programme?

A. The programme lasts for a duration of nine[9] months divided into two[2] semesters.

Q. Can I Apply with a deficiency in my O’level?
A. Yes, as candidate have the opportunity of writing any subject deficiency during their JUPEB programme without necessarily writing another WAEC, NECO, GCE or NABTEB. Also awaiting result applicant can apply.
Q. How difficult Is JUPEB Examination?
A. JUPEB is more like your WAEC, NECO, GCE because it is an external exams in an advanced form, Our aim is for all interested candidate to pass in flying colours, to this effect all our Study centre facilities avails the students to better learning.

Q. What Is The Possibility Of Gaining Admission With JUPEB?
A. Annually about 20,000 applicants put in for the programme in which more than 15,000 candidates secure admission with it into 200 level to their preferred university & course as compared to JAMB which close to 1.6 million applicants sat for and just 20% fraction got admitted. Over 80% of Nigeria universities accept JUPEB certificate.
Q. Are There People Defrauding Candidate with JUPEB?
A. Note that many educational institute/Individuals claim to be registering student for JUPEB, some of these centres are not accredited,so be wise and don’t fall into their scam.

  2. What does a jupeb transcript mean is it the same thimg as statement of result because that is What I was given. If they are not the same,how do I get it. And also what is the contents of the jupeb transcript

      There is a CA which makes up to 15/30 percent of your JUPEB final score. However, what is the name of your school?

  7. I’ve taken the jupeb direct entry form but they filled in an incorrect examination number will it affect my admission, I mean when jupeb is giving admission.

    1. You can do the correction during JAMB name correction processes.However, go back to the CBT centre ( where you did the registration ) and ask them when such correction can be made.

      It is not hard to pass especially if you have written jamb or post utme before.
      They set questions from 3 subjects related to your course.

  11. I have a deficiency in my recent waec result. Can unilag allow me to run the jupeb program while I do the next Sep/Oct GCE to make up for the deficiency? I mean I have registered for the GCE to be taken in October but the jupeb would have started before I even take the GCE exam.

  16. please does delsu accept second choice in direct entry jupeb

    1. Its preferable you use them as first choice except you have upper hand,higher preference and admission opportunities in your first choice institution.
      DELSU might not consider you for 2nd choice admission especially if you are applying for a competitive course.

        1. NO! DELSU accepts JUPEB as direct entry.
          For lower credit, which course or department do you want to apply for?

          1. Computer science or chemistry or physics… Or any course my Jupeb point can carry…. Which course do you think my point can carry? Thanks

          2. I guess this is Peter above (please comment with same name to aid continuity) .
            If you have 7 points, you can do relatively any and many course apart from competitive ones like medicine.

            To really help you out DOWNLOAD the JAMB brochure here (8MB You can use the hard-copy if you have one)and check out the A’level requirements for admission.

            PS: Two Alevel passes means (grade D). So check for courses that accepts at least 2 A’level passes.)

      Continuous assessment (CA) is 2o marks . That is 20% of your total scores.

      JAMB does not conduct any exam for direct entry candidate (so far) but some university might require their direct entry candidate to write screening exam.

  23. Please how can I apply into 200l in uniben. I did my jupeb in unilag and I had 7 points( D D D) in maths phy and chem in 2016..and how can I know if it can be enough for geology in uniben
